The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) of the UPC is composed of academic and technical staff, distributed in different schools of the UPC.

The activities of the Department of Mechanical Engineering are mainly focused on the following areas of expertise:

  • Acoustics and vibrations
  • Biomechanics
  • Mechanical design
  • Mechanical manufacturing processes
  • Theory and technology of machines
  • Transportation

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has research laboratories and services, where the teaching activity, research and technology transfer is combined in an open environment of resources and ideas, which allows to respond appropriately to each of these areas, as shown by the collaboration in research with other universities and with companies.
