Presentation

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of the UPC is composed of academic and technical staff.

Our goal is to provide quality teaching, promote excellence research and collaborate - through the transfer of technology and knowledge - with the industrial environment and society.

We offer teaching and research in a variety of areas of current interest in mechanical engineering. We promote innovative research and strong links with industry. We participate in a wide range of undergraduate and master's programs, and we are part of an interdepartmental PhD program.

We have teaching laboratories ready to provide practical learning to our students as well as research laboratories equipped according to investigation needs and other facilities that can offer services to companies.

EngranatgeWe work in the following areas of expertise:

  • Acoustics and vibrations
  • Biomechanics
  • Mechanical design
  • Mechanical manufacturing processes
  • Theory and technology of machines
  • Transportation

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers teaching in the different schools of the UPC in Barcelona (ETSEIB and EEBE), Terrassa (ESEIAAT), Manresa (EPSEM) and Vilanova i la Geltrú (EPSEVG).

The department also participates actively in the PhD program of Mechanical Engineering, Fluids and Aeronautics by training new doctors in the aforementioned areas of expertise. In addition, there are teaching staff of the department who regularly participate in other PhD programs.

The activities of research and technology and knowledge transfer of the department are developed through different research centers and groups, some of which have established permanent collaborations with other research groups from UPC or other national and international ones. You will find more information in the research section. The technology and knowledge transfer is reflected both on the collaboration agreements with companies and on the offers of scientific-technical services to support research and innovation.

We encourage students interested in working on our projects to contact us, as well as companies looking for advice or collaboration.
