Barcelona to host the final stage of an International Unite! Project on teaching innovation in hybrid manufacturing
Dec 18, 2025
After an intensive week in Lisbon, Professors J. Antonio Travieso and Ramón Jerez from the Mechanical Engineering Department joined forces with teams from Technische Universität Darmstadt and Universidade de Lisboa (Prof. Beatriz Silva, João Magrinho, and Philipp Schumann). Together, they are driving forward a teaching innovation project funded by the Unite! University Network for Innovation, Technology and Engineering, which continues to make remarkable progress.
This initiative, which promotes collaboration among European universities, is providing an enriching experience for students from the participating institutions. In particular, the involvement of students from the Master’s in Mechanical Technologies at the Escola d’Enginyeria de Barcelona Est (Campus Diagonal-Besòs, UPC) stands out, as they play a leading role in developing innovative solutions.
The project aims to answer a key question:
How can hybrid manufacturing technologies improve the sustainability and efficiency of the deep drawing process?
The conclusions will be presented in January in Barcelona, marking a milestone in the integration of new teaching methodologies and the pursuit of more sustainable industrial processes.
