Gil Serrancolí, assistant professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and member of the Simulation and Movement Analysis Lab (SIMMA) at EEBE, will participate in the Opensim Visiting Scholars Program at Stanford University (California, USA). The OpenSim Visiting Scholars Program gathers every year four researchers to develop their projects on computational engineering and biomechanics focused on rehabilitation with the OpenSim developers.
Together with the PhD candidate Antoine Falisse (KU Leuven, Belgium), Gil will work on the integration of automatic (algorithmic) differentiation in the biomechanics software OpenSim, with the goal of improving the optimization convergence, and therefore the efficiency of movement simulations.
Antoine and Gil already participated in the Developer’s OpenSim Workshop (July 2016), and in the Virtual OpenSim Workshop (October 2016), where they were awarded a Travel Grant and a Technical Grand Prize respectively.
