After some years of messing with meshless methods for wave propagation simulations (yes, messing (and not meshing) feels like the correct word), we end up finding some interesting methods that enhance the capabilities of the method of fundamental solutions (MFS). By combining MFS with the singular boundary method (SBM), we've got a nice cocktail: simple but robust methodology, even with intricate geometries, with a final touch of a strong computational efficiency. Two works are recently published at the Journal of Sound and Vibration studying the method in the context of computational acoustics and elastic wave propagation. Both papers are open access:

This a very nice work of our colleagues Javad Fakhraei, Hassan Liravi, Arnau Clot and Teresa Pàmies, in collaboration with professor Luis Godinho from University of Coimbra (Universidade de Coimbra).
