First publication on pantograph-catenary interaction dynamics by LEAM-CATMech researchers
Feb 25, 2026
Researchers of the Acoustical and Mechanical Engineering Laboratory (LEAM), research group of the Mechanical Engineering Department associated to the CATMech (Centre for Advanced Technologies in Mechanics), have recently published the paper entitled “Study on effective modelling of rigid catenary and the influence of parameters on the dynamic forces acting on the pantograph”. This paper studies the impact of two rigid catenary features, pre-sag and staggering, on the simulation of pantograph-catenary contact forces in the presence of rigid catenary systems. This is the result of a long-term collaboration with IDOM and the first publication of the group in the field. The paper is available in open access at the following link.
