Five researchers from the Laboratory of Acoustical and Mechanical Engineering (LEAM), a research group from the DEM associated with CATMech (Advanced Centre for Mechanical Technologies), took part in IWRN15, the fifteenth edition of the International Workshop on Railway Noise, held on La Toja Island, Galicia, from 15 to 19 September. The congress, with a long-standing tradition in the field —the first edition was held in 1976 in Derby (United Kingdom)— was organised by the Technical Universities of Madrid, Catalonia and Valencia, with Robert Arcos serving as one of the three chairs of the organising committee. Researchers Arnau Clot and Robert Arcos (associate professors in the department), together with PhD students Yazdan Shafieyoon and Amir Alizadeh-Shiraz, presented their work at the congress. In addition, Kenny F. Conto, currently holding a postdoctoral position at the University of Cambridge, presented a paper in collaboration with LEAM. Finally, PhD students Yazdan Shafieyoon, Amir Alizadeh-Shiraz and Saba Aliyari participated as volunteers in the organisation of the event. More details can be found on the congress website.
