Startup of a vibration test equipment at the site of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at ETSEIB

Researchers Joaquim M. Veciana and José Luis Tejedo have refurbished and re-started a Brüel & Kjær electromagnetic shaker, which was disused, for generic vibration tests. The equipment supports a mass up to 35 kg and a frequency up to 4 kHz, depending on the required acceleration. The developed control electronics are used for sweep sine tests with controlled amplitude and frequency signals. In the future, it is planned to include additional electronics that allow random excitation tests. The ultimate objective is to provide the Department with an infrastructure suitable for research activities and services for companies.
